“Perfect for the spa lover on your gift list, anyone who desires to eat healthier or serious foodies.” – Review by Michele McIntyre-The Examiner

Review by Michele McIntyre, The Examiner  Title: 2011 Holiday Gift Guide for Spa Lovers: Christianne’s Herbal Kitchen (Book)

The gift: Christianne’s Herbal Kitchen: Fresh Herb Recipes for Body and Soul, by Christianne Klein

MSRP: $9.99 for eBook, digital edition or PDF.  $15.95 – $17.95 for paperback version.

Where to get it: TheHerbCookbook.com or Amazon.com.

Perfect for: The spa lover on your gift list whose 2012 resolve is to prepare healthy meals using fresh herbs, anyone who desires to eat healthier or serious foodies.  Also great for gardeners, those who love to experiment in the kitchen, and your favorite spa director (hint to spa directors: purchase a retail supply for offering in the spa gift shop!)

Christianne’s Herbal Kitchen has all the trappings of a traditional cookbook:  A compelling introduction, color photos of every recipe, the usual categories (appetizers, soups, etc.) and easy-to-follow instructions.  But that’s where the similarities end. This is a “read it cover to cover” kind of recipe book.

If you’re an herb newbie or an energetic foodie, you’ll love the “Focus On” herb segments which offer the origins, ancient traditions, unique composition and uses of the most popular cooking herbs: basil, cilantro, rosemary, thyme, lavender and mint. But the spa lovers will really appreciate the “Beauty Tip” (shaded in pink) for advice on skin care, improving your complexion with ingredients found in the kitchen, and natural perfume-making with just two ingredients.

Author Christianne Klein, who has enjoyed cooking since she was a child, is an award-winning journalist who was injured in 2005 while covering the scene of a crash.  A slow and frustrating recovery led her to seek out holistic practitioners, sparking her interest and eventually her passion for herbal remedies, healthy food options and the mid-body-spitir connection.

Coming in 2012 from Christianne Klein:  A follow-up beauty based cookbook featuring more recipes for health and inner and outer beauty.  Maybe in time for Holiday Season 2012?  Stay tuned.
